Hyaluronidase / Filler Dissolving Aftercare

Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising can occur after hyaluronidase injections. The appearance immediately afterward is not the final contour because both swelling and filler breakdown can continue to evolve.

Quick recovery priorities

Follow the instructions for the exact product, device and treatment area you received.
Keep treated sites clean and avoid unnecessary rubbing, picking or pressure.

Important context

Hyaluronidase products such as HYLENEX are FDA-approved for specific uses that increase dispersion or absorption of injected substances; use to reduce hyaluronic-acid dermal filler is an off-label clinical use.
The amount of filler dissolved and the final contour may not be predictable immediately after treatment. Additional assessment may be needed after swelling settles.

After treatment

Keep the area clean and avoid unnecessary pressure or manipulation unless your provider instructed otherwise.
A cloth-wrapped cold pack may be used briefly for ordinary tenderness or swelling.
Do not judge the final contour while the area is still swollen.

Call THCB promptly

Worsening redness, pain, warmth, drainage or other signs of infection.
Hives, marked itching, facial swelling or other signs of hypersensitivity or an allergic reaction. HYLENEX labeling lists hypersensitivity as a contraindication and reports allergic and anaphylactic-like reactions rarely.
Persistent or worsening symptoms that prompted urgent dissolving in the first place.

Get urgent medical help now if you notice

Difficulty breathing, tongue or throat swelling, faintness or another sign of a severe allergic reaction.
Any vision change, severe unusual pain, concerning skin color change or neurologic symptom.

If you have trouble breathing, signs of stroke, sudden vision loss/change, or another potentially life-threatening symptom, call 911 or seek emergency care rather than waiting for an app response.
