Quick recovery priorities

• Follow the instructions for the exact product, device and treatment area you received.
• Keep treated sites clean and avoid unnecessary rubbing, picking or pressure.
• Do not use this page to self-diagnose a complication. If something feels significantly wrong or is worsening, contact THCB or seek appropriate medical care.

For the treated scalp

• Keep the scalp clean and avoid scratching, picking or vigorous rubbing while it is tender.
• Avoid applying irritating hair or scalp products directly to fresh treatment sites until sensitivity has settled.
• Follow the specific washing, styling, exercise and topical-medication timing instructions given for the exact treatment you received.

If microneedling was part of the session

• The FDA states that microneedling devices have not been cleared for treatment of hair loss. If microneedling was used as part of a scalp plan, its use and any combination with another product require individualized counseling.
• Skin can be more sensitive after microneedling, and products that normally feel comfortable may sting. Stop products that cause significant burning and contact THCB if irritation is substantial.

Call THCB promptly

• Pain, redness, warmth or swelling that is worsening rather than improving.
• Drainage, fever, spreading rash, significant blistering or signs of infection.
• A persistent or severe headache, significant facial/scalp swelling, or another unexpected symptom after an injection-based scalp treatment.
