Neuromodulator Aftercare
Your treatment develops gradually. Mild pinpoint redness, small injection-site bumps, tenderness, swelling or bruising can occur. Product, dose, anatomy, treatment area and individual response affect onset and duration.
Immediately after treatment
- Treat injection sites gently. Avoid aggressive rubbing, massage, compression or facial devices directly over newly treated areas unless THCB specifically directs otherwise.
- Normal facial movement is acceptable. Gentle skincare and makeup can generally resume once injection sites have closed and there is no active bleeding, using clean hands and applicators.
- A gentle cool compress may be used for ordinary discomfort or bruising. Do not apply heavy pressure.
What to expect
- The effect is not immediate. Improvement develops as neuromuscular activity decreases.
- One side may begin responding before the other. Temporary asymmetry during onset does not necessarily represent the final result.
- Mild headache, tightness, heaviness, bruising or tenderness can occur.
- Do not request additional units solely because movement remains during the early onset period.
Activity, skincare and medications
- Normal daily activity is generally acceptable. THCB may recommend temporarily limiting vigorous exercise or significant heat exposure when bruising or swelling is a concern.
- Avoid aggressive manipulation of treated areas. Ask THCB before facial massage, microcurrent, radiofrequency, ultrasound, microneedling, laser or other procedures soon after treatment.
- Do not stop aspirin, anticoagulants, antiplatelet therapy or other medically necessary prescriptions solely to reduce bruising unless the prescribing clinician directs you to do so.
- Alcohol may increase flushing or bruising in some patients, so limiting it around treatment may be reasonable if you bruise easily.
Follow-up and final assessment
For many routine cosmetic facial neuromodulator treatments, reassessment around 10-14 days is useful when your provider recommends it. Product-specific timelines vary. Dose adjustments or additional treatment should be based on clinical assessment, not performed automatically.
Contact THCB promptly
- Significant or worsening eyelid or eyebrow droop
- Persistent double vision or concerning visual disturbance
- Unexpected weakness involving an untreated area
- Increasing redness, warmth, drainage or other concern for infection
- A reaction that is worsening rather than improving
Urgent medical warning
Botulinum toxin products carry warnings for possible effects beyond the injection site. Seek urgent medical evaluation for difficulty breathing, swallowing or speaking; generalized or progressive muscle weakness; significant weakness away from the treated area; or symptoms concerning for a serious allergic reaction.
For breathing difficulty, severe allergic symptoms, stroke-like symptoms, sudden significant vision changes or another medical emergency, call 911 or seek emergency medical care. Do not wait for an app response.
